IAS Invited Lecture Series in Postcollectivity
Lecture by Adela Goldbard “If Vultures Arrive, There Will Be War: Notes Towards a Poetics of Violence”
In this talk, Goldbard will outline the aesthetic-political concerns that have led her to think of violence in a deterritorialized manner: as a communal, critical and decolonial aesthetic experience with the potential to make dissident collective memory visible. In Goldbard’s recent artistic research/practice, collaborative work, staging, re-enactment, carnivalization of roles and rules, as well as destruction, fire, excess and catharsis, are tools of radical embodiment and disobedient communal agency that point towards the creation of a poetics of violence.
