About

The Institute for Advanced Studies in Social Science and Humanities (IAS) was founded on January 1, 2021, reflecting the ongoing efforts to implement the IDUB national excellence program (“Excellence Initiative – Research University”) at AMU.

The IAS is an umbrella structure and a no-wall institution intended to assist the AMU academic community in increasing its international research collaboration within social sciences and humanities (HUMSOC).

Its operating budget from the IDUB program is 10 million PLN (or 2.5 million euros).

The IAS coordinates and supports new research and international collaboration programs from the IDUB funding for the HUMSOC community (which comprises almost 70 percent of AMU faculty).

Specifically, the IAS intervenes in the areas which are not covered by general IDUB programs (such as publishing beyond Scopus journals, publishing monographs with global publishers, research support for beginners in global publishing, international research collaboration projects, and support for young academics from HUMSOC disciplines). The IAS works on the basis of open calls and provides support on a competitive basis.

The IAS is open to new ideas how to support research, collaboration, and publishing that is routinely not supported by the IDUB program.
